Natural Objects/Scanning.
Creative Computing:
Using only a scanner
and adobe photoshop. A course designed for beginners and required
little previous experience of computers.
This project developed into a commission for the National Institute
of Mental Health in England. MAPS creative computing members produced
a series of large scale imagery for the Hyde Office walls. After
this project was completed we were also asked to produce a series
of business cards.

Hypothetical
Adventures:
Creative Computing
and Hypothetical Theatre Co.
A project devised to integrate both experienced and new photoshop
users. Working to the theatre groups storyboards the computing group
took digital photographs to produce realistic depictions of imaginary
situations. The final prints were converted onto slides to be used
in a theatre group performance.

The
Synthetic Landscape
Creative Computing:
A project devised for complete beginners in digital photography
and photoshop. We began by exploring how to use digital cameras,
taking pictures in Reddish of urban elements. These images were
then compared to those gathered in Alderley Edge of wider landscape
shots.
The group then selected an image from each location and put the
two together using photoshop.

Self-Representation
Each photographer sat and charted their interests, hobbies, moods,
feelings anything they wished to share with the audience. Many individuals
did not wish to take portraits so the group discussed ways of solving
this issue. Shadows, reflections, objects, reverse printing and other
techniques were explored. Each member could represent themselves through
three images and could use text in, on or around the image.

Constructed
Imagery: Sequences
The group made two
sets of sequences during this project. The first part the group
produced a large scale abstract painting using slides to copy shapes
and then this was photographed and another shape added.
In the second set (part of which is shown opposite) the group wanted
to return the piece to a blank canvas, as they had the photographic
record of the painting. The group wanted to keep the white hand
shape they had seen appearing in the first set so storyboarded to
produce a clear sequence. The final sequence contained 12 images
and included the group working on the piece.
